NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2011 AMSF INTERNATIONAL RISING STAR PROGRAM
15-07-2010
The Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) is seeking nominations for the 2011 AMSF International Rising Star Program. Once again, the AMSF is looking for Australia’s brightest young stars to compete on the international motor sport stage.

The AMSF International Rising Star Program has seen a great deal of success since its inception in 2008. Graduates of the AMSF International Rising Star Program include John Martin, Ashley Walsh, Daniel Erickson, James Davison and Tim Blanchard. The 2010 AMSF International Rising Star Program is represented by Scott Pye who is currently competing in the MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain and Molly Taylor who is competing in the Citroen Racing Trophy as part of the British Rally Championship.

The AMSF International Rising Star Program was established in 2008 to ensure talented young Australian drivers reach their potential on the international motor sport stage. The aim of the Program is to manage and develop selected Australian drivers participating internationally, who are aiming to compete at the pinnacle of their chosen motor sport discipline and category.

The AMSF International Rising Star Program has been designed to enable the AMSF to play an active role in the development and management of drivers racing internationally. The AMSF is committed to ensuring that the selected drivers experience a smooth transition into a foreign environment and are able to adjust to an overseas life and associated pressures. This includes forming alliances with the leading racing teams in Europe and other locations outside Australia, as well as providing access to leading sports psychologists, physiologists, driver coaches, mentors and other support services.

The successful candidate(s) will also receive in addition to the above, significant financial support to help fund their competition.

“The AMSF International Rising Star Program is an essential pathway for the transition of talented young Australian drivers embarking on an international career,” said AMSF General Manager Martin Stillman.

“With the impressive achievements of 2010 AMSF International Rising Star Scott Pye (currently second in the 2010 MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain), the program has demonstrated success in launching the international careers of our drivers”.

“In addition to budgetary support, the AMSF International Rising Star Program provides drivers with a wide range of support services and mechanisms including sports psychologists and mentors as they transition into international competition,” Stillman said.

Drivers wishing to nominate for the 2011 Program must meet specific assessment criteria including age (14 years and above), demonstrating elite past driver performances and a clear five-year career plan and provide information on the chosen category, and demonstrate the ability to provide the balance of an operational racing budget and funds already secured. Drivers are encouraged to submit a thorough business plan and career path in conjunction with their application form.
The successful candidates will be announced in early December 2010.

The nomination deadline is Friday 29th October 2010.
